In a shocking and tragic incident that unfolded yesterday morning at Gombe State University (GSU), a yet-to-be-identified female student of the university threw her newborn baby from a three-storey building. The heart-wrenching act was reportedly carried out by the student, who had given birth to the baby boy out of wedlock and decided to end his life by resorting to such a heinous act within the school hostel.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the baby succumbed to the fall instantly, causing a wave of commotion throughout the institution. The news quickly spread, leaving the university community in a state of shock and disbelief.
Mohammed Abubakar, the public relations officer of the school, confirmed the distressing incident to LEADERSHIP, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic turn of events. He further disclosed that the case had been handed over to the police for investigation.
When contacted, Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the police spokesman in the state, stated that they were yet to officially receive the report. However, he assured that as soon as they received the details, they would communicate them promptly.
