A doctor alleged to have removed a woman’s kidney in Jos, the Plateau state capital, Noah Kekere, has reportedly turned to a lunatic while in the police cell at the state police command.
Our correspondent reports that Kekere was arrested on Wednesday, September 6, following a report to the Nasarawa Gown police division for alleged removal of the right kidney of Mrs. Kehinde Kamal during an operation in 2018.
The Nation had also gathered that Kekere had prior to his arrest been carrying out medical treatment including surgery for more than two decades in his Murna Clinic and Maternity, located in Yanshanu Community of Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
The state police command had earlier confirmed the arrest of the suspected harvester and investigation has commenced.
The Nation reports that Kekere was rushed to the Psychiatric unit of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), after he exhibited symptom of madness in the police cell.
A source from the police headquarters confirmed to newsmen that the suspected harvester was taken to the hospital when he started tearing his clothes in the cell and started behaving like a mad person, adding that “This made the police rushed him to Jos University Teaching Hospital and even in JUTH in handcuff.”
A source from the hospital also confirmed to The Nation that Dr Kekere was admitted at the psychiatric department of the hospital on Saturday evening.
The source said ” On arrival, he was just screaming, yelling and shouting.
He was saying “they want to silence my daughter”.
The Nation reports that Mobile Police officers have taken over the Psychiatric unit of the hospital.
When contacted the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred didn’t respond to the enquiry by our correspondent.
